This week has been one hell of a week.
If there’s one thing this week taught me, it’s that progress doesn’t always happen the way you expect.
Some of it I planned.
A lot of it I definitely didn’t.
Earlier this week I experienced what doctors believe was a transient ischaemic attack (TIA), often referred to as a mini stroke. It was a pretty confronting experience and one that certainly put a few things into perspective.
Thankfully, I’m recovering well.
While I’d much rather have been out meeting clients and working out on-site , the unexpected downtime gave me something I almost never have…
Time.
Time to slow down.
Time to think.
Time to refine ideas.
And plenty of hours on the couch with a laptop (and two very lazy dogs keeping me company).
As strange as it sounds, that forced break ended up becoming one of the most productive weeks I’ve had since starting Creeley Digital Systems.
Building More Than Websites
One thing became incredibly clear to me this week.
I didn’t start Creeley Digital Systems because I wanted to build websites or create cool programs.
I started it because I genuinely enjoy solving business problems.
Sometimes the answer is a website.
Sometimes it’s a client portal.
Sometimes it’s a CRM.
Sometimes it’s workflow automation, a dashboard, document management or software that removes hours of repetitive work every week.
The website is often just the front door.
The real value is everything happening behind it.
That’s the direction Creeley Digital is continuing to move in, and honestly, I’m excited about it.
Behind the Scenes This Week
Although I was forced to spend more time resting than I would have liked, it gave me the opportunity to make huge progress behind the scenes.
Some of the highlights from this week include:
Continuing development of cousin Samantha’s custom CRM platform, which is really starting to come together. Quietly making significant progress on the companion mobile app… something she doesn’t even know is coming yet. Completely rethinking how I approach pricing projects. Rather than simply charging for time, I’m putting much more emphasis on the value a system creates for a business over its lifetime. Refining premium proposal packs that include mock-ups, agreements, capability information, pricing pathways and supporting documentation, so clients feel confident before a project even begins. Designing better client delivery systems, making it easier to organise documents, proposals, project updates and communication. Continuing to map workflows for businesses looking to replace spreadsheets, paper processes and disconnected software with simple, practical systems. Spending a lot of time planning the future direction of Creeley Digital and the software I want to build over the coming months. Becoming Bitwarden Certified for Cyber Security through a government grant page BAT app talks again with the owner about something very exciting. CDS is now Fully insured
None of those things make flashy social media posts.
Every one of them makes businesses run better.
A Few Milestones Along the Way
This week wasn’t just about projects.
There were a few milestones that I’m genuinely proud of.
I completed my Bitwarden Level 3 Certification, continuing to build my knowledge around cybersecurity, password management and secure business practices.
I also finalised my professional insurance, meaning Creeley Digital Systems is now backed by Professional Indemnity and Public Liability cover. It’s another important step in building a business that clients can trust.
At home, I finally gave my office the attention it deserved.
A better workspace might sound like a small thing, but when you’re spending countless hours designing systems, writing code and meeting with clients, having an environment that’s organised, comfortable and inspiring makes a huge difference.
Momentum Is Building
One of the most exciting parts of this week has simply been the number of conversations happening.
More businesses are reaching out.
More ideas are being discussed.
More projects are beginning to take shape.
It’s still early days, but seeing Creeley Digital gradually build momentum has been incredibly rewarding.
Every enquiry reinforces the same belief.
Small businesses don’t need technology that’s complicated.
They need technology that simply works.
That’s what I’m trying to build.
The Best Coding Companions
Not every hour this week was spent behind a keyboard.
Recovery also meant slowing down enough to spend some quality time with Angie and Ruby.
If you’ve ever worked from home with dogs, you’ll know they have an incredible ability to either motivate you… or convince you that another coffee break is absolutely necessary.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Looking Ahead
The last several months have been a whirlwind.
What started as an idea & lifelong hobby has quickly grown into something that feels very real.
Every week I’m learning something new.
Every project teaches me a better way of solving problems.
Every conversation helps shape where Creeley Digital is heading.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s trusted me with their projects so far, and to everyone who’s supported me since launching.
There’s still a long way to go, but that’s the exciting part.
